What happens when I start Runes of Magic for the first time via Steam?

When you start Runes of Magic for the first time via Steam, the client opens. If you have not linked an account for Runes of Magic, a new one will be created automatically. If you have already linked your account to Steam via our website, you can play with it (see below for more information).

In both cases (normal account / Steam Client account) the launcher will start normally (like the standalone client) and you can select region and language.

I have created an account for Runes of Magic via Steam. Can I use it to log in to the Runes of Magic website?

Yes, you can log in via the “Log in to Steam” button on the website.

Can I log in with my old/existing account via Steam?

Yes, all you have to do is link your account with your Steam ID. It works like this:

• You can link your account via the website. Simply log in to the website for your region with your account details (e.g. via en.runesofmagic.gameforge.com for DE).

• If you use the normal login, the account settings will open. There you will find a button that you can use to link your account to Steam. If you have already linked an account, you must first delete this connection in order to link your desired account.
• Please note: It is only possible to delete the connection once every 7 days.

Is it possible to delete the connection between my account and Steam?

Yes, this is possible via the website. Please log in to the website for your region (e.g. via en.runesofmagic.gameforge.com for DE). To do this, you can either use the normal login or the “Log in to Steam” button. If your account is already linked to Steam, you will find a button in your account settings that you can use to delete the connection. You can also upgrade your account to play via the standalone client.

Can I log in via the normal client with an account created via Steam?

No, at the moment it is not possible to use accounts created via Steam with the normal client. We will inform you as soon as this is possible.

Is it possible to use multiple accounts with the same Steam account? If so, how does it work?

You can use one account for each region. You cannot use multiple accounts for the same region.

Do I have to switch to Steam to play Runes of Magic?

No, if you already have an account, switching to Steam is optional. You can of course continue playing without Steam.

Can I use my Steam account to log into the game via the standalone client?

Yes, but the details regarding the account upgrade still need to be clarified.

Will there be a new server for Steam?

The conventional servers for Runes of Magic are available via Steam. However, we will be adding some new servers with the Steam launch (check out the latest news). These servers will be available to all players, regardless of whether they play via Steam or not.

Will there be an exclusive server for players who play via Steam?

No.

Can I freely choose the server and the region?

Yes. When starting the launcher, you can select the region (EU/US). When the game starts, you can select a server from the server list.

How can I change the language?

You can change the language in the launcher when selecting the region.

Can I buy diamonds via Steam?

Yes, you can buy diamonds with your Steam credit.

Are there any restrictions on the choice of region?

No, there are no restrictions, not even when selecting the desired language.

I play Runes of Magic via the standalone client. Do I have to download the game again if I want to play via Steam?

Yes, you have to download the client via Steam, even if you already have the game installed.
